Emerson Drive Alert.....

Hey, guys. Here's a little information I got through the grapevine about the band. Apparently, they have gotten them selves a nomination for “Best Major Performance” in the Campus Activities Magazine Readers Choice Awards. They won the award last year, so good luck to em in getting a second straight title. If you want to help, head on over to the website and cast your vote.
Besides all that, they have been busy getting ready to release a new CD, titled Believe. They'll be working with the same people who helped them hit it big with the song "Moments". It's expected to be released in the Spring of this year. Their latest single, "Belongs To You" in on the charts as we speak.

LeAnn's Got a New Gig...

I know I'll be tuning in when an airdate is announced. I'm a sucker for these made-for-TV movies anyway and LeAnn being one of the stars is just an added bonus. By the way... I found out a re-mix of her single "What I Cannot Change" has made it to #6 on the dance charts. Go her! Sadly, the real version hasn't fared as well. Let's hope her next project gets more of the This Woman treatment. Well, I'm out of here. See ya all again tomorrow with more Country Music talk. Take care!

Chart Watch

10) Carrie Underwood, Carnival Ride. Her second album went up three spots this week. Let's see if it stays in the top 10 as long as Some Hearts did!
9) The Zac Brown Band drops 6 spots with their album, The Foundation.
8) Kenny Chesney spends a second week in this spot with his latest, Lucky Old Sun.
7) Trace Adkins earns himself a spot in the top ten his first week out with X: Ten. By the way... I love the first single "Muddy Water".
6) Rascal Flatts' Greatest Hits Volume 1 drops two spots in the fifth week of release.
5) Taylor Swift is still hanging in there after over 100 weeks with her self-titled release.
4) Despite being gone for over 30 years now, Elvis is in the top ten with Christmas Duets. The disc contains duets with Martina McBride, Wynonna, Carrie Underwood and more.
3) Sugarlandis looking good after almost 20 weeks with Love On The Inside. They moved up three spots.
2) Can you believe it's almost that time of year again? Faith Hill is on the charts for the 9th week now with her Christmas CD, Joy to the World.
1) Finally.... Taylor Swift is once again queen of the album chart. She takes the top spot yet again with Fearless.

Chart Watch...
Hey, everyone! It's been a long time since I've done a recap of the Billboard top 10 so, I thought this would be a good time to bring it back. It all starts with #10....
10) Jamey Johnson, That Lonely Song. He's been on the chart 6 weeks now, and has kept that 10 spot for the past two weeks. Let's see if he can keep that going...
9) Jimmy Wayne, Do You Believe Me Now. His single of the same name is doing great, and it's helped him to reclaim a spot of the charts. This week, he falls 3 spots.
8)Toby Keith, 35 Biggest Hits. He's got a new CD coming out soon, but for now he's hanging in there with a hits collection. To be honest, I'm completely over hits collections right now. Any fan already has the songs.
7) Heidi Newfield, What Am I Waiting For? The former singer of Trick Pony's solo debut has dropped two spots in its 6th week on the charts. Check out the lead single "Johnny and June".
6) George Strait, Troubadour. He's dropped one spot, but it still in the top 10 after over 20 weeks on the chart. Not bad...
5) Carrie Underwood, Carnival Ride. Her second disc is still in the top ten after over 40 weeks. Even better... expect that to keep up, as "Just a Dream" is doing well.
4) Taylor Swift, Taylor Swift. Looks like I might be right when I said she'd probably end up knocking her own CD off the charts. No one else has been able to do it yet.... even after almost 100 weeks. Look for that to change once Fearless comes out.
3) Now That's What I Call Country. This compilation CD of biggest country hits is down one spot after three weeks.
2) Sugarland, Love On The Inside. They may have some turmoil behind the scenes, but their CD is not showing it. It's already been certified Platinum.
1) Jessica Simpson, Do You Know? Jessica's the latest person to abandon the pop charts for a chance at country success. Of course... the pop charts kinda abandoned her first. Still... I am kinda surprised by her second single. It isn't all that bad. Check out this live performance below and check back here in a couple of days when the new chart's out. Take care!!

Video of the Week
I'm really loving this one:
It's Jimmy Wayne's "Do You Believe Me Now?" and has been really doing well. It hit number 1 on the country charts and is bringing him a lot of attention again. What do you think about it? Let me know!! I'll be back again next week with a new favorite, so keep checking back. I'll also be reviewing a couple songs and CDs over the next few days. Til then, take care and "play something country!"

The Road Hammers!
Hi, country music fans. How are y'all doing? Just thought I'd post real quick to share a cool video with you. It's the Road Hammers performing their new single "Girl on the Billboard during GAC's 2008 CMAFest kick-off breakfast.
In other news, Miranda Lamber is already hard at work on album #3. According to that article, she's going in a slightly different direction with this one, so I'm excited to hear what's next. Meanwhile, this has been quite the year for her. Not only did she earn herself that album of the year award, she has now gotten her first top 10 hit ("Gunpowder and Lead"). Let's hope all this leads to increased promotion and radio support for her. She deserves it.
Well, I'm out of here now. Take care and I'll see y'all soon! Feel free to sound off on anything you see here in the comments, by the way. I always love getting to hear from and chat with other fans.
