Wondering what Laura Bryna is up to?

I've got your answer. I just got a press release about her recent appearance on a talk show, which also mentions a few projects she has in the works. Check it out...

Nashville, TN (July 13, 2009) – Country music recording star Laura Bryna appeared on FamilyNet’s “Mornings with Lorri and Larry” show (in 15 million households nationwide) on Thursday July 9th where she announced the winners of the “America’s Search for Hometown Heroes” contest, sponsored by Bryna, Southern Beauty Magazine and JOICO Hair Care. The five lucky winners and their guests will be traveling to Los Angeles in August where they will be the special guests of Bryna, Southern Beauty Magazine and JOICO Hair Care. In addition to their visit to Los Angeles , the winner’s will also be Laura’s guests at the exclusive VIP party at the House of Blues, which is the official launch party for the new magazine. Bryna will be performing at the bash and will also be seen on the cover of Southern Beauty Magazine, where she is featured along with five women “heroes” of the Air Guard.

Bryna, who is the celebrity spokesperson for the Air Guard’s national media campaign came up with the idea of “ America ’s Search for Hometown Heroes” as she was inspired by the unselfish and heroic work of men and women who serve in our military, most especially those who are members of the Air Guard.

Bryna performed her song “Hometown Heroes” on the TV show and spoke with Lorri and Larry during two 12 minute segments. Lorri and Larry unveiled the new cover of Southern Beauty Magazine which Laura adorns, and spoke with the new artist about her involvement with the Air Guard and their Media Campaign as well as Bryna’s work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. They even had time to talk about Bryna’s “babies,” her three birds, “Tyler” an African Grey Parrot, “Harmony,” a Senegal Parrot and “Snuggles”, a Cockatoo. After the appearance she was promptly invited back to be a guest on the show in the near future. “Laura is a dynamo...personally and professionally. That tiny frame hides a big ‘Martina McBride-like’ voice. The work she's doing with Make-A-Wish and the Air Guard also shows she has a big heart. Meeting her in person was an absolute delight,” says Larry Estepa, co-host of FamilyNet’s “Mornings with Lorri and Larry, television and radio program.

Bryna is currently working on film and television opportunities as well as a brand new music project.

TV Alert!!!

Tune in to Monday night football tonight to check out Laura Bryna's message from the National Air Guard. If y'all remember, she's been made a spokesperson for them and is doing various print and other media campaigns for them. Her song "Hometown Heroes" was adopted by them and is also part of the campaign. Funny enough, Laura was visiting with some of them when she said how cool it would be if the song was played locally where she was visiting. Just as she said it, the song came on one of the local stations. How's that for coincidence?

I'll be back tomorrow with some Jeremy McComb talk and some other cool things. Take care and see ya then!!

Reviews, Reviews and More Reviews!!

Hey guys!! I recently got to hear some new music from a few artists. The first one I got was Abby Abbondanza. He has a single out called "Promised Land" and I'm loving it! It's one of those songs where the narrator is looking back on his or her youth and remembering some of the great times they had. These songs can be a bit hit or miss for me, but he managed to sell me with his vocals, which were full of attitude and a little bit of longing for those times. He sounds a bit like Tim McGraw to me through some of it as well. The song's uptempo and you can clearly hear a almost old-time sounding piano riff in there, which I thought was an interesting touch.

I also just got the chance to listen to the new version of Laura Bryna's Trying to be Me. It's an intersting CD and her vocals have a unique touch to them, while reminding me of singers such as Dolly and Leann Womack here and there. While I liked all the songs well enough, I think there are several where her vocals truely shine. Songs like "Same Dog" and "Set it On Fire", where she gets to show a bit of attitude and a Wynonnaesque growl. I think those are where her vocal strengths lie and I'd love to hear more material like from her.

"Same Dog" is a song about a woman who has learned from the mistakes she's made in love and refuses to fall back into the same pattern again. "Set It On Fire" tells the story of getting rid of what reminds you of a love gone wrong. These two alone, in my opinion make the disc worth it. Check out "Set it On Fire" here....

Check back later for more info on these artists, as well as another review of Minnie Murphy's first single. Take care and see ya then!

Laura Bryna...

Are you going to be at the Indianapolis Air Show on the 23rd of this month? If so, you'll get the chance to catch Laura Bryna in action. According to the reports, this will be the first time the show has actually scheduled any live musical performances. First Micheal Phelps, and now this... history seems to be getting made a lot lately, huh?

If you haven't hear of her, or gotten her album Trying to Be Me, check out her MySpace page to see what she's all about. The disc is available on Itunes and other retailers. You can also check out the show's site to get details about tickets.

In other country news, I'm excited about the upcoming release of Taylor Swift's CD, Fearless, which has a date of November 11th. Of course, release dates are always subject to change. Brad Paisley, anyone? Apparently, that one got changed to Election Day. On the bright side? This one might actually get real attention and airplay since there will be a couple of songs with lyrics on them. I figured a fully instrumental album would be too risky to a label. Looking forward to both!

Before I go, I want to introduce a new feature: Song of the Week. Each week, I'll post a clip to a favorite song/video of mine. I hope y'all will enjoy and tell me what you think of my picks. And my pick for this week is...

"Almost Over You" By Lila McCann

I chose this because I love Lila's version of this song. She really is gifted to have been able to sing that with some emotion at such a young age. Now, we just have to wait for her label to get with it and release something from her again.
