Changes All Around (Plus, Desperate Housewives, Brad Paisley and Lady A)

Hi, everyone. I just wanted to give y'all a bit of an update about all the stuff I've been up and what you can expect in the coming days and weeks. I guess you can already tell that the blog has a new design. The about me page not only gives you some quick info and my blogger profile, but it also gives readers the chance to contact me via e-mail to talk about guest blogging opportunities. I hope you'll pass that info along to any writer/musician friends who would like to take over for the day. I also hope you'll take the time to vote in my Alexz Johnson poll... it ends in one week and  new ones will be put up regularly.

My Country: Smash Hits 2

Hey guys! I am a big supporter of the troops, so when this release came my way I had to pass it along! The Album is for a good cause and there is also a contest going on for anyone who has family in the military....

Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood "Remind Me"

So the video for Brad and Carrie's duet was released earlier. For those who haven't heard it/seen it, here it is:

I think this review/discussion pretty much sums up my thoughts on the song really well. I would add that they sounded great together and I want more duets from them. I think my favorite part would have to be this bit right here:

[Carrie] Do you remember the way it felt?
[Brad] You mean back when we couldn't control ourselves
[Carrie] Remind me, remind me
[Brad] Yeah remind me
[Carrie] All those things that you used to do
That made me fall in love with you
Remind me. Oh Baby Remind Me

So what do you all think? Hit or Miss? Comment below and let's chat about it...

Brad Helps Celebrate the Fourth!

Happy 4th, everyone!! I was just browsing youtube and came across this video that I wanted to pass along, particularly to all the Brad Paisley fans out there:

For those who are unable to view the video, Brad Paisley and others will be appearing on a 4th of July special tonight at 9 PM eastern time on NBC. So what are you doing to mark the holiday? Post your comments below!

Brad Bares All....

Yes, it's what you're thinking... but not. I think this link can explain it better than I can. Personally? I'm cracking up right now. I love Paisley's sense of humor.

Brad the Match Maker?

According to AOL's The Boot, he's claiming he is. He says that he set up the meeting between Julianne Hough and Chuck Wicks that led to them getting together. Wanna see the full report? Check it out here.

Before you head out, check out this video of the pair on Dancing with the Stars. I thought they did great and I was surprised to see them leave before some of the other pairs:

Brad Defends Haters?

I spend some time every day browsing the news sites to find out what's going on in Country that day. Well, today I came across an article where Brad Paisley defends some of the haters of Country Music. Why, you ask? Well... he says that he feels the genre has gotten away from some of it's traditional roots. Especially when it comes to true story telling in songs.

I can't say I agree with that completely. I think there's still plenty of great story telling in the genre and I don't know of any other genre where the songs are as or (sometimes) more important than the artists themselves. I do see his point, though. There's been quite a few changes in the genre over the years and I've heard quite a few people complain that the music today is a little too rock or pop oriented.

So what do you think? Do you think the story telling's leaving the genre or do you think there's still life there? Comment and let me know! See ya next time.

Quick Update...

Just dropping in to let y'all know we have official confirmation now. Carrie Underwood's new CD will be released on November 3rd. They issues a press release earlier to break the news. Still no album title though. As more information comes out, I'll let you know.

Brad's New Album!

The Best and the Worst: 2008

Good Afternoon, everyone!! I’m here to start the new year off right with a look at my personal highlight and lowlights of ‘08. Feel free to share yours, too!

As I mentioned before, I loved Miranda Lambert’s increased success this year. It’s been a long time coming.

LeAnn Rimes releasing ‟What I Cannot Change‟ as a single.

Brad Paisley and Keith Urban teaming up for ‟Start a Band‟.

LeAnn Womack’s single ‟Last Call‟.

Jessica Andrews getting signed to a new label and putting out a single to country radio again.

Brad Paisley getting a taste of his own medicine when Jewel played a trick on him.

Tim McGraw letting Curb and his fans know he is not happy with the latest Greatest Hits release.

Carrie Underwood being invited to the grand Ole Opry.

Getting the chance to chat with Can You Duet? contestants and new Big Machine recording artists Kate and Kacey Coppola via MySpace.

Dolly’s ‟Jesus and Gravity‟.

Discovering the talent that is Minnie Murphy.

Sugarland’s ‟Love on the Inside‟ CD

Lowlights:

Nashville Star and the fact it had very little to do with Country this year.

A former member suing Sugarland, claiming she’s owed money from the continued success.

The passing of Eddie Arnold.

Gone Country. Hmm... John Rich isn’t doing too well this year, is he?

Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus performing on the CMT awards.

The continued delays of CDs by Jo Dee Messina, Danielle Peck and others this year. (At least Danielle finally got a digital release...)

The end of the Wreckers.

Mindy McCreedy’s continued troubles.

Jessica Simpson crossing over to Country.

Brad Paisley Getting a Mugshot??

Not according to GAC. He did, however, have quite the trick played on him. Check out the link and see for yourself. All I have to say is- look out if they ever go on tour with him again. You know he's gonna do something big to get them back.

By the way... congrats to Brad on the news he and Kimberly are expecting another kid. With those genes, he's bound to be a cutie.

Brad's Unlikely "Play"mate

Ok, I have seen a few surprising collaborations over the years (Christina Aguilera and Fred Durst, anyone?), but this takes the cake for me. According to a story on GAC, Brad Paisley has teamed up with rapper Snoop Dogg for this new album, Play.

I am really interested to hear this one, now. He's got so many different people working with him on it, I think it's gonna be a fun CD. And it doesn't hurt that there are at least a few vocal songs as well. It's still over a month away, though, so we're just gonna have to be patient.

Speaking of the CD, the cover art was released and should be viewable on amazon.com by now. If not, hang tight and I'll see if I can find it for you to post. Some fans are complaining about it, but I think it's kinda cool. It features a guitar "swinging" in a playground with the words "Play" looking like they were written in crayon. It just enhances the idea to me that this is just a fun CD that is going to be pretty unique. Will it live up to it's promise? I guess we'll find out on November 4th...

15 September 2008

Hey Everyone!

Just wanted to stop by and share this cute promo from brad Paisley's youtube channel. It's for his new album, Play, and features excerpts from several of the songs:

I'm thinking this is gonna be one great CD. Looking forward to it. One of the songs featured is the first single, "Start a Band" with Keith Urban. They really sound good together.

21 July 2008

Hey, country music fans! How are y'all doing today? I'm doing good and excited about a new release coming up. It's Brad Paisley's instrumental album, titled Play. He told GAC today that he's going to have not only Country songs on the CD, but jazz and metal as well. Now, this is something I have to hear! He also promised to begin work on a new vocal recording after his Paisley Party tour ends.

Speaking of new releases, Kellie Pickler has announced that she's calling her new CD Kellie Pickler and it will be released on September 30th. One surprise is, she has confirmed that a new version on "Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You" from her debut will be on there. Looking forward to seeing what she's come up to. Some of the songs are already getting a lot of buzz.

I'm going to leave y'all today with a link to Brad Paisley's video "Waiting on a Woman". I think this is my favorite video he has released yet. If you haven't seen it, you'll understand why by the end. It's very touching and well done. In case you can't see the video for whatever reason, here's a screencap for you.

Well, that's about it for now. Don't forget to pick up your copy of Sugarland's "Love on the Inside- Deluxe Fan Edition" tomorrow. I know I'll be buying the download off Amazon. I'll post my thoughts on it once I've had the chance to listen to it in full. Take care!
