Heather Hildenbrand Q&A

And now, we get to the final post for Across the Galaxy: A Q&A with Heather. Enjoy and feel free to post any other questions you may have...

What inspired the story?
I know it sounds cliche, but it was a dream, actually. In the dream an alien boy came to earth to save the girl from murderers. he flew her back to their planet (he had angel-like wings). Obviously the story changed once I began writing it. =)

Who would you say is your favorite character in it?
I like Ben and even thought about doing a sequel, all about him. I understand him really well and I think it would be fun to write him. He's young and he's got alot of growing up to do so he would grow alot as a character.

Tell me a little bit about your writing process.
Quiet and solitude are key! Both of my kids started full day school this year so every morning after I drop them off, I come back and surf the net for about an hour and stalk my email and amazon sales, and then I turn off the net and all the noise and get in the zone and just write.

Of all the books you've read, have there been any that made you say "I wish I wrote that!"? If so, which one and why?
Sleight by Jennifer Sommersby. I wish I had her way with words.

What author would you say has most influenced your own writing?
Richelle Mead, Alyson Noel, Stephanie Meyer, and P.C. Cast. I like their character "voice" in their series. Its true to a teen, entertaining, and unique.

Can you tell us anything about any future projects you have in store?I'm currently working on Cold Blood, the sequel to Dirty Blood, my YA paranormal romance that just came out earlier this month. Its got werewolves, hot ones, an egotistical ex boyfriend, and a couple of psychos. Good stuff.
