Levi Lowrey, I Confess I was a Fool or Best. Album. Cover. Ever.

So I recently got to hear Levi Lowrey's I Confess I Was a Fool and I loved it. First off? The album art is really good and looks like thought and creativity was put into it (unlike some others).

Random Covers- Taylor Swift does Pink, TLC

Taylor Swift has been doing some pretty random covers on her latest tour... here is a little bit of her latest, thanks to TheBoot:

Check the link above for the full story. I gotta say, I love when artists cross genres like that and do things their fans might not expect. I love that she picked those two songs in particular this time around, cause they are two of my all time favorites. What do you guys think? Did you like the covers? Is there a song you'd like to see Taylor (or another artist) try her hand at? Comment back and let me know! Til next time...

Pink

So, I'm sitting here and thinking over some things to write while I listen to Pink's concert special from her Funhouse tour. I really love this special. From the originals to her cover songs, it's perfection and so much fun to watch. I think a huge part of that is the fact that she and her band look like they're having such a great time. When an artist is completely emgrossed in and completely enjoying what they do, you can't go wrong.
If I had to pick some favorites, I would have to go for 1) The cover of "Bohemion Rhapsody" by Queen. It's an incredible song and I was amazed that they were able to do it such justice. 2) I really liked her performance of "Funhouse". It was so much fun to watch and a great representation of the video as well. I would say more, but I have to limit the list a little right? :)

Stay tuned because I will be posting other thoughts on concert DVDs/Specials here and there from different genres. Before I go, I wanted to let you know that I have been very busy lately. I updated my website, made a facebook page and have added some songs to my youtube playlists. Hope you enjoy and I'll see y'all next time.

Where Are They Now?

It's the weekend, so I thought I would share a few videos to get you ready to dance :) I'm on a bit of a nostalgia kick right now so, here's JoJo singing "Leaving (Get Out)"

She's been out of commission for awhile thanks to issues with her record label, but she does have a new song out from last year called "In the Dark". It was included on a mixtape awhile back... stay tuned for info on a full album when it's available.

So what do you think of these songs? Post your thoughts below and let's chat about it!

Girl's Night Out and Looking Ahead.....

So, apparently whatever is possessing my TV decided to cut me a break. I got to see the Girl's Night Out special on CBS the other night and what a show it was! They honored Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Nettles, Martina McBride and more.

Each person had a short video played about them and then one of their songs was played by another artist. After that, the honoree got to sing as well. My favorite performance was Carrie's "How Great Thou Art". Other highlights included Little Big Town's version of "Independence Day" and Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley singing "Hell on Heels". Rascal Flatts also did a good job with Reba's "Why Haven't I Heard From You". Here are a few videos from the special... Enjoy! And check your local listings for any potential repeats... especially on GAC or CMT if you missed it the first time around.

Check back in a couple of days when I will have a special post out about the book Across the Galaxy along with a Q&A with the author!

Promises, Promises.... (SPOILERS for CMT Next Superstar)

Be warned... DO NOT look any further down if you didn't see the episode yet and would rather wait to see a repeat before reading any details...

So, I have a TV that is possessed and has been scanning randomly through channels. It, of course, decided to do that as I settled in to watch the latest episode. Luckily I did catch some of the end and the CMT website is helping to fill in details. First, let me share a few performances from the latest ep:

Stay Tuned....

Gonna try and get a post up about CMT next superstar later on as well as some other stuff. Hope everyone's been having a great weekend! In case you're unhappy about Monday coming around again... here's a little something to hopefully get you moving :)

Some More Info Through the Grapevine...

This one was really cool and the story makes me like Jeremy even more than I did before. If you are going to be in the area and attending this event, I would love to hear a personal account of it. Please comment here and I'll get back to you.

New Music Alert....

Ashley Gearing is getting ready to release a new single called "Five More Minutes" to radio very soon. I found a video of her performing the track on youtube at a benefit show. Check it out....

Love the melody and her voice actualy reminds me a little bit of LeAnn Rimes... especially in the chorus. I think the sentiment behind the lyrics is sweet, too. Enjoy and feel free to post your thoughts!

Voodoo Reloaded

I mentioned before that I was looking forward to hearing Alexz Johnson's Voodoo Reloaded and that it would be released in April. Well, now we have the official release date and cover art. The CD will be available on April 26th and Alexz has already started doing some interviews about the project.

As a fan of the original Voodoo, I am not sure how I feel about the Remix idea. I do know I love the new version of "Trip Around the World", while the new "Boogie Love" has yet to grow on me. Still, I am looking forward to seeing what direction these tracks have gone in and doing a compare and contrast post about the two once Reloaded is out. In the meantime, here is a little video for you of Alexz performing a duet with Jimmy Robbins. The song is called "Lost This War" and was written by the two of them. Enjoy and I'll see ya again soon!

Jason Aldean and More.....

So, Jason Aldean has a new single out called "My Kind of Party" that will be released August 24th. I just listened to it and love it. It's uptempo, has a rock influence and he sounds great. I enjoyed it far more than a couple of his other singles. As for the lyrics... it's a party song all the way and that's what ya need sometimes right? If you haven't heard it yet and want to, here is a video of him performing it:

In other news, Here is a great yahoo article I found about Jaron and the Long Road to Love. I was surprised to learn he had a hit in 2001 with his brother Evan with "Crazy For This Girl". Another country convert to add to the list.... who do y'all think will be next? Comment and let me know.

This is the fourth single from his debut country CD, Learn to Live. Will he get a fourth #1 out of it? Stay tuned. In the meantime, check out this live performance, thanks to 396mjr:

Kenny the Policeman?

Ya’ll may have heard by now that Kenny Chesney is involved in a little bit of a controversy. He recently confiscated a camera from one of his fans at a show in Foxborough. ContryMusicNewsBlog has a great opinion piece up about it that I can’t agree more with. I wish more people in the industry would think the way whiskeychick does.

Don’t get me wrong. I sympathize with artists not wanting unreleased material out there without their approval. They have every right to try and keep that stuff from coming out if they don’t feel its up to par. Still, I think everyone could lighten up a little about concert clips and music videos. Let’s be realistic, here. Artists want the videos seen right? Well, since GAC is the only channel that I know of that features music, concerts and similar programming all day, sometimes we have to let the fans get these videos out by other means so they can be enjoyed. As WhiskeyChick says... free publicity is a good thing. So is the word-of-mouth from your fans.

What do you guys think? Are you with Kenny on this or do you agree with the other side? Write back and let’s talk about it. Take care and I’ll see y’all tomorrow with more.

Brooks and Dunn, the final look back....

Hey, everyone! As promised, I have one final Brooks and Dunn clip for you this week to mark the end of their career as a duo. Before I get to the song, here’s an interview they did with CMT about the split. You can catch them on repeats of The Insider today. These guys are hilarious and I like that it seems there really isn’t any animosity between them. Refreshing isn’t it? Stars actually telling the truth! :) One of the highlights for me is when they talk about Bill Anderson’s reaction to their first single. Check it out for yourself. Congrats to them on a great 20 years and I’m curious to see where they’ll go from here once the tour is over.

And now? The song. Neon Moon. I picked this one because it brings back a lot of memories for me. We used to know a guy who ran a Kareoke show, so my family and I would go regularly and one of the regulars there would always sing this one. Enjoy!

LeAnn Scoop and Another Look Back at Brooks and Dunn

According to fans at her shows, LeAnn has announced that the first single from her new album will be called "You've Ruined Me". Interesting title, don't you think?

That said, it's time to look back again on one of my favorite Brooks and Dunn songs. my choice today? Play Something Country. The song is so fun and I can't help wanting to dance every single time I hear it. I'm sure the guys out there found plenty of reasons to like the video as well...

Anyway, here's a video of them performing the song live, thanks to bnelson01:

Brooks and Dunn- A Look Back (Part 2)

Here is another one of my personal favorites from Brooks and Dunn. It's a performance of Red Dirt Road:

This is one of the first Brooks and Dunn songs I remember hearing and it's always stuck with me. I love how it's kind of touching on nostalgia and innocence while, at the same time, reflecting on the loss of that innocence. The narrator is remembering his small town childhood and finding Jesus, while also talking about crashing his first car and having that first beer. What do you all think of this song? Share your thoughts and let's chat about it.

Brooks and Dunn- Looking Back

I thought this week would be a good time to share some of my favorite songs by the duo. I know I reviewed this first one a long time back, but I can't help including it. It's called "Believe". Here's a live performance of the song for you:

Like I said in my old review of it- I just love the words and vocals in this song. His voice is just so strong on this track, it gives me chills. What do you all think? Comment and share your own thoughts on this song. See ya with more tomorrow...
