I think this review/discussion pretty much sums up my thoughts on the song really well. I would add that they sounded great together and I want more duets from them. I think my favorite part would have to be this bit right here:

Quick Update...

Just dropping in to let y'all know we have official confirmation now. Carrie Underwood's new CD will be released on November 3rd. They issues a press release earlier to break the news. Still no album title though. As more information comes out, I'll let you know.

This is sure a busy time, huh? Carrie, Brad, Miranda and SheDaisy are all releasing new music this year. Can't wait to hear it all. Who are you all most looking forward to? Comment and let me know!

Hi, everyone!! I'm preparing some end of the year posts reflecting on 2008, but before I start posting those, I wanted to take some time to say I hope you're having a wonderful holiday season and the New Year is a great one for you all. Thanks to everyone who has been reading this year. I really appreciate it! Take care and I'll see you tomorrow!! I'm going to leave you with a couple of my favorite performances from the Opry Special. Carrie Underwood's version of "Do You Hear What I Hear?" and Martina McBride's "O Holy Night". The Martina one in particular impressed me. It was a wonderful a cappella version where she stay pretty low-key vocally. Enjoy!

Third Time's the Charm...

At least, that's what two country singers will be hoping for. Both Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood are setting their sights on new albums in 2009. While Carrie doesn't have a target date, Miranda's is scheduled for sometime in the fall.

I'm already excited for these releases. They two of my favorites and always manage to put together an album that keeps me hitting the "replay" button. I'm hoping also, given the fact Miranda's had what is probably her most successful year yet, that 2009 will be the one that sees her becoming a true star in the country world. The girl deserves more radio play and awards.

As for Carrie... I agree with the fans out there who'd like to see her try a more traditional sound. I think she does great at it and who better to take a risk like that than one of the biggest on radio? It's not like they'd shun her like they considered doing when LeAnn's "Blue" first came out. I think she's due for a more artistic record, don't you? Post your comments and let me know what you think about all this. Take care and see y'all later! Carrie Underwood Needs You!

She's doing it again! Carrie and her team have decided to once again let the fans have their say. If you check out her MySpace page, you'll see a poll to the left asking what her next single should be. The choices are: "You Won't Find This", "Get Out of This Town", "Crazy Dreams", "I Know You Won't", "Flat on the Floor" and "I Told You So".

Personally... I'm hoping for either "Flat on the Floor" or "Get Out of This Town", although I could take most of these songs being singles. The only one I hope doesn't make the final cut it "I Know You Won't". I love Carrie's vocals, don't get me wrong, I just found them over the top on that track. I felt like reaching for the Advil by the time that song was done. So what do you all think? After you vote, I'd love if you came back and told me your choices.

And so it ends....

Well, Nashville Star has ended, and I'm a little surprised by the outcome. I was personally thinking Shawn would be the surprise winner and Gabe would be the runner-up. When Shawn was eliminated, I figured it was going to be Gabe, considering John Rich has been pimping him so hard. But neither one was to walk away with the crown last night. Instead, Melissa Lawson became the new Nashville Star and I was left scratching my head in confusion.

I have nothing against Melissa, but her voice wasn't any better in my mind than most of the others (I'm still mourning Pearl Heart) and she's the one who's the least "marketable". So, how does she end up being the one who is supposed to become a new country star? If the powers that be would not put the effort into talents like Angela Hacker, Chris Young and Buddy Jewell, what hope does Melissa have? Not even the tiny little blonde Ericka Jo got much push and the entertainment industry in general seems to love that type.

No matter what happenes with Melissa, I do believe she'll find some kind of niche for herself somewhere. I don't think she end up a country susperstar, though. I do think that Shawn, Gabe or Pearl Heart will end up being the ones to have something come out of this show. Even if it's small-time success. Melissa, however, is in for an uphill battle for several reasons. One, she's not the usual "type" in this business and I wonder how invested a label will actually be. Two, I can't stand that song they chose for the winner.... one generic song about taking chances and changing your life given to all three, the winner releases it. If they were smart, they would have had the four finalists working with a songwriter to come up with a song that doesn't have "reality show coronation tune" written all over it to really show the person's talents off. Three, I point you once more to the Nashville Star track record. Not very impressive, save for Miranda Lambert.

Good luck Melissa and all the other contestants. Now is the time to do everything you can to establish your own credibility as artists and show people you really are deserving of the position you've been put in. Credibility, and a little luck, will be the thing that takes you somewhere from this point on. Not the "Nashville Star" title.

In better, and somewhat related, news.... Carrie Underwood's new video has been added to the CMT website. You can see it here. I haven't been able to see much of it yet, but what I have seen is pretty good! It's the first Carrie video to feature dialog and allow Carrie to show off her acting. So what do you all think? New Duo....

Do y'all remember Ashley Monroe? She had a minor hit with the song "I Don't Want TO" last year. That was, by the way, one of my favorites. She also wrote the song "Flat on the Floor" that appears on Carrie Underwood's latest CD. Sadly, she didn't seem to get the support she needed and her album never did come out.

Well, now she's decided to go in a new direction. She teamed up with Trent Dabbs to form a duo. Check out their MySpace here for song clips and other pictures of them. I'm liking what I hear.... their voices blend well together and their sound seems like something that would be popular on radio. Then again, I thought her solo stuff did as well, so what do I know?

Seems like Country is trending towards duos lately. We have the Coppolas, Caitin and Will. Not to mention, Sugarland's amazing success recently. I have to say, though, this is a trend I don't mind. It's kinda going back to the old days where Duos and solo artists teaming up regularly was the norm.

Congrats to Keith!!

All you Keith Urban fans out there will be happy to know that he and Nicole Kidman just welcomed their daughter, Sunday Rose. Not sure about the name, but good for them for having a healthy child.

Look out, Road Hammers fans! They have quite a few episodes of their show coming up, as you can see from the GAC Schedule. I just saw an episode where they were dealing with trying to get a photo shoot done, and it was a good view. I love getting a behind-the-scenes glance. Interestingly enough, I just found out the other day that Jason Preistly of 90210 fame is actually the director of the series. Good for him for developing those off-camera skills over the past several years.

Finally, I mentioned that Carrie Underwood was releasing the single "Just a Dream". Well, I thought I would share a youtube video of her performing the song for anyone who maybe hasn't heard it yet. It's a beautiful track and there should be a video out soon. Already, sites are buzzing from pictures that were released from the shoot. Because I am not a big fan of spoiling stuff early and all, I don't want to post them here. Suffice it to say, they look great and I'm sure fans will love it.

Happy Fourth of July, everyone!! I hope you're all having a great one. I thought I'd stop in real quick and share a video of LeAnn Rimes that seems appropriate today. She's singing "America the Beautiful" on the Boston Pops Spectacular from 2003. On a related note, she'll be releasing a new single, "What I Cannot Change" in August. Be sure to keep an ear out for it!
